Repair the roof of CLARA

We are transforming an abandoned brick factory, which was once an economic and social anchor for the region, into a vibrant Center for Rural Future - CLARA. Instead of bricks, we now produce social innovation for regenerative local development. CLARA is a research, training and innovation center for rural regenerative development located in the beautiful interior region of Odemira, Portugal. As a collaborative workspace based on interdisciplinary knowledge, reflection and production, we provide a stimulating ambiance where creative minds can engage in a comprehensive discourse on local issues and invent solutions encouraging collaboration with partners and the involvement of the local community. At CLARA we value the local resources, we connect people and organisations, we share knowledge and we restore ecosystems.

A few weeks ago, due to the strong winds that were felt at CLARA and the interruption of the rehabilitation work, part of the roof of the old factory building collapsed. Fortunately there was no one on site. With the help of some volunteers, we began removing the debris. To safeguard the remaining roof, we will have to remove all the tiles from the huge roof and check the condition of the wooden structure. This work is only possible to carry out, safely, using a lifting platform. The cost for the rental of the necessary equipment is € 2,500.
